The two hundred voice combined choir will rehearse and perform under the direction of guest conductor, Dr. Betsy Cook Weber, Director of Choral Studies, the Moores School of Music, the University of Houston, and recently retired from the position of Choral Director for the Houston Symphony Chorus. Imagery shot from space will be paired with the choral music to enhance the experience of the concert. The young choristers will spend two days exploring cosmic collaboration with visits to Space Center Houston, an encounter with a NASA astronaut, and rehearsals and exploration of the music to be performed in the concert. Each choir will also present a brief program of their to open the concert.
The June 7 “Cosmic Collaboration” Concert is FREE; families are encouraged to bring children to enjoy hearing and seeing the music! The Lunar Rendezvous Foundation and the Bay Area Youth Singers are underwriting this special event in our community and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church is generously sharing it’s facilities for the two day choral festival.
