The BAYS choir program helps singers develop a healthy singing voice, music listening skills, music reading skills, work ethic, and self-confidence.
Singers are exposed to a range of musical genres from classical to multi-cultural compositions.
The choirs are open to boys and girls with unchanged treble voices.
Singers in BAYS have the opportunity to develop solo as well as choral singing skills, many of whom are also coached in auditions for local, state, and national honor choirs through BAYS.
Please time your travel times so that students arrive early enough to use the restrooms and be in their seats ready to sing prior to their start times.
We ask that absences from rehearsals be kept to an absolute minimum and that they are communicated to BAYS staff in advance.
Concerts and performances are your students opportunity to enjoy the fruits of their labors and to show off their individual talents — this is their time to shine!
Attendance at performances is mandatory, absences should be strenuously avoided.
Prelude
Prelude is a beginner children’s chorus for singers in Kindergarten-2nd grade who rehearse Mondays at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church, Nassau Bay, from 5-6 p.m. Auditions are not required for this ensemble. This chorus typically performs four concerts per school year. Additional performances typically occur during the holiday season at local assisted care facilities.
Children’s Chorus
Children’s Chorus is a beginner children’s chorus for singers in 3rd-5th grade who rehearse Mondays at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church, Nassau Bay, from 6-7:30 p.m. Auditions are not required for this ensemble. This chorus typically performs four concerts per school year. Additional performances typically occur during the holiday season at local assisted care facilities.
Concert Choir
Concert Choir is an intermediate-advanced treble chorus for singers in 6th-12th grade who rehearse Mondays at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church, Nassau Bay, from 6-7:30 p.m. Auditions are not required for this ensemble, but the age requirement must be met, as well as a brief vocal assessment with the director. Singers in 5th grade who demonstrate appropriate work ethic, maturity and vocal skills will be considered on a case by case basis. This chorus typically performs four concerts per school year. Additional performances typically occur during the holiday season at local assisted care facilities.
Bel Canto
Bel Canto is the most advanced treble chorus composed of singers from 7th-12th grade who rehearse Mondays from 7:30-8 p.m at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church, Nassau Bay. Admission to Bel Canto is by audition only. Singers in 6th grade who demonstrate exceptional work ethic, maturity and vocal skills will be considered on a case by case basis. Bel Canto members are also required to participate in the Concert Choir. This chorus typically performs four concerts per school year as well as additional performances at various community locations throughout the year. Additional performances typically occur during the holiday season at local assisted care facilities.
